Greetings Fellow Rotarians,

The Rotary calendar is fast approaching to July 1st and my time as your District Governor is waning.  I want you to know that this year was filled with new friends, endless adventures, family, stress, work and best of all - FUN!

We have accomplished so much this past year.  To highlight a few things, we have a new office and ample meeting space and are moving our technology into the future, our giving to the Polio fund from the district exceeded $30,000.  We added two new Rotaract clubs for a total of three, many of the clubs have entered goals into Rotary.com and the district website which gave greater accuracy to the records, saw continued interest and activity to the Grants program, operated many of the events, i.e. - Foundation Celebration, Midterm and Conference of Clubs in the black, greater support and understanding of the North Star Youth Exchange and more.

Membership numbers as of today:  July 1, 2018 = 2765    June 28, 2019 = 2737  for a net loss of 28 members.  So, if any new members have not been entered into the system, please do so before July 1, 2019 and let's see if we can make up that deficit.  We had a retention percentage of 92.67% which is great as more and more are becoming engaged and inspired.

Foundation giving as of June 28, 2019 is at $357,209.37. To put it in perspective, last Rotary year, Total Annual Fund Giving was $434,506.84 and the year before that was $387,684.25. So as you can see, we are moving in the wrong direction and I can stress to you enough that in order to fund as many grants and endeavors in our district that all of us want to do, we will not have the funding to so and will be limited.  If you are a club leader, make sure your funds are there immediately,  If you have not given to the Rotary Foundation, please do so today. When you look at the photos of the person(s) receiving the grants or the Rotarians doing the work and see all of those grateful smiles, keep that image in your mind when you send in your money knowing that you are touching lives throughout the world.  I know we can do better and I ask your help in making a last minute contribution to get those numbers where they need to be.

I would like to thank the Council of Governors, Board of Directors, Assistant Governors, Presidents of clubs for your support and help in this past year.  If not for your hard work and caring, my tenure as Governor would not have been as fruitful.  Thank you to all Rotarians who were so gracious in welcoming me to the visits, fundraisers or special events. The family of Rotary is alive and well.

I want to have a special shout out to Kathy Hughitt, District 5960 Administrator.  We are so fortunate and blessed to have her in our district. If not for her business sense, people skills, and caring heart, we would not be who we are today.  Thank you Kathy from the bottom of my heart.

I look forward to my next assignments with Rotary, but look back with a warm heart at what was a fun year.

Lastly, I ask that you give our incoming District Governor, Paul Perez all of the same support and more in the upcoming year.  Paul is a great guy and if you don't know him yet, make it a point to introduce yourself at events and visits.  He has good knowledge of Rotary and is a caring and dedicated Rotarian.  Also, thank you to the Governor Team - Paul Perez, Ed Marek, Kenny Klooster. Understand that the upcoming district leadership is a team and all are great Rotarians.

Sincerely,

Mike Becker
