Rotary's Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

District 5960, is adding a third pillar, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

The three pillars of Rotary have historically been membership, foundation, and public image. District 5960 is excited to be standing by their fourth pillar- a pillar for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

What is Diversity Equity and Inclusion?

Diversity- People of all backgrounds, experiences, and identities regardless of their age, ethnicity, race, color, abilities, religion, socioeconomic status, culture, sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity.

Equity- Carefully considering how to provide differing levels of support, opportunities, and resources so participants have a welcoming and productive experience.

Inclusion- Creating experiences in which all people are welcomed, respected, and valued.

Why Focus on DEI?

As a part of a global network that strives to build a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change, Rotary District 5960 values diversity and celebrates the contribution of people of all backgrounds, regardless of their age, ethnicity, race, color abilities, religion, socioeconomic status, culture, sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity.

As the geographic region of district 5960 continues to grow in diversity, the district is committed to also growing diversity in their own demographics, while maintaining environments of equity, inclusion, and belonging.

To support this pillar, district 5960, put together a district committee to work towards collating district DEI resources, increasing DEI visibility, and elevating clubs and members who are already doing fantastic work in the space. Working together since early 2020, the committee is striving to help district 5960 keep growing in this area. If you are interested in joining and/or you have any questions, you can email the committee secretary:
